Located just 100 metres from the waterfront, the project required a solution that balanced performance, aesthetics and environmental responsibility.
Spanning approximately 320m² across the backyard and side yard, the finished space now provides a clean, low maintenance area designed for children, pets and high daily use, while maintaining a strong focus on sustainability.
Project Brief and Site Challenges
The homeowner required a surface that could withstand high foot traffic from children, dogs and outdoor play equipment such as trampolines and climbing frames. Durability and drainage were key priorities, particularly given the coastal location and exposure to moisture.
A major consideration for the client was environmental impact. Being so close to the ocean and local waterways, there was concern around traditional artificial turf products potentially contributing to plastic leaching into the surrounding ecosystem.
The goal was to create a safe, long lasting and visually appealing outdoor space that would perform well in coastal conditions while aligning with environmentally conscious values.

The base was carefully prepared to ensure stability and long term performance, allowing the turf to handle heavy use from both children and pets without compromising its structure.
In addition to the turf installation, the project included landscaping works such as garden edging and the construction of small sleeper retaining walls. These elements helped define the space, improve usability and create a polished, cohesive finish.
