Project Brief and Site Challenges
The Chermside homeowner contacted Ecovia Turf to upgrade the backyard into a low maintenance outdoor area suitable for dogs and everyday family use.
The yard contained a mix of shaded sections and high traffic areas, making natural grass difficult to maintain and leading to patchy lawn conditions over time.
Because dogs regularly use the space, the homeowners wanted a durable and easy to clean surface that would remain visually consistent while performing well under frequent use. Product selection was also important, with a strong preference for latex free artificial turf to minimise the risk of odour issues associated with pet environments.
Landscaping and Artificial Turf Installation Solution
Ecovia Turf delivered a comprehensive landscaping solution designed to improve drainage, durability and long term usability of the backyard.
Extensive site preparation works were completed, including concrete works, gravel drainage installation and regrading of the area. Approximately 40 tonnes of material was imported to stabilise the ground and establish the correct levels across the site.
To manage water effectively, 20 lineal metres of strip drains were installed throughout the landscape to improve drainage performance.
Stepping stones and premium tiled elements were incorporated into the design to define pathways and protect high use areas. These features help maintain the appearance and longevity of the artificial turf while providing practical access across the yard.
The project was completed with 150m² of EcoAbode 30mm artificial turf, chosen for its durability, performance in shaded areas and latex free composition.
The finished backyard now provides a clean, pet friendly and low maintenance outdoor environment that performs well for both dogs and everyday household use.
