This residential landscaping project in St Lucia, Brisbane involved resolving significant drainage and ground stability issues following the construction of a new home. The completed project included drainage upgrades, retaining wall improvements and the installation of EcoLife 35 mm artificial turf, combined with natural turf areas to create a durable and low-maintenance lawn solution suited to the site’s clay based soil conditions.
Project Brief and Site Challenges
Carol engaged Ecovia Turf following the completion of a large new build home in St Lucia. While the house itself was nearing completion, there were ongoing issues across the outdoor areas, particularly relating to drainage performance and retaining wall stability.
The site consisted of heavy clay soil, which caused water to sit on the surface and created challenges for both turf establishment and long term landscape performance.
The clients required an experienced Brisbane artificial turf and landscaping contractor who could properly assess the site conditions and implement a long term solution while working carefully around a newly completed home with restricted site access and existing structures already in place.
Landscaping and Artificial Turf Installation Solution
Ecovia Turf carried out detailed site preparation and drainage improvement works to address the underlying soil and retaining wall concerns before installing the new lawn areas.
Base excavation and removal were completed under restricted access conditions, allowing the team to reshape the base and significantly improve drainage performance across the site.
The retaining wall was extended and rectified to support the revised landscape layout and effectively manage ground levels. Once the drainage and structural works were completed, the team installed 100 m² of EcoLife 35 mm artificial turf alongside 120 m² of premium natural turf.
This combination delivered a durable and visually appealing landscape, providing a practical lawn solution while supporting healthy plant growth and long term performance across the clay based site.
